Tutorial – How to Install and Use Lightroom Templates

I’ve made a little tutorial on how to install, use my collage and album templates for Lightroom and also how to save them on your hard drive:

To install templates:
1. Select the Print panel in Lightroom :
2. In the left panel point the mouse to the “User Templates”
right-click and select “Import”:
3. In the pop-up window select all the templates you want to install ( they all have  .lrtemplate ending on the files). Click OK.
4. Templates should appear in the left side panel under “User Templates”
To place pictures to the template, just drag and drop photo to the place.
To export and save a template in Lightroom :
1. In the right-side panel open up Print Job and make sure that Print to is selected with JPEG File:
Then press “Print to File” button and Save a collage:
That’s it! You are done!
Now if you want you can open a JPEG file in Photoshop (or Lightroom) and resize it, or if you want to print it, just load it to your photo-lab account.

These are wonderful! Will start with the freebies and very likely go after the ones to purchase after I play around with the collage templates.
    Thanks for sharing!!

These templates are great!!! The only thing which is happening to me is when I do “print to file” and reopen in photoshop, the whole collage is out of proportions, the faces are longer or look more fat?? Is there a way to avoid that? Is there something I am doing wrong?

Hope to hear your answer because really I like them very much!

I am using a MACBook Pro and am not able to import via the instructions you list because I don’t have a right click import option. I’m new to MAC so it could be user error, but was wondering if you had any advice. I really appreciate any help you can give.

i am not getting import option when i right click on user templates. can i select an import option from the top menu bar? also the files are not coming up as readable when i do try to import them in my lightroom 3.

    help!

no, if you select import on top – it will try to import images, and not templates.
please make sure your software is up to date, then go to Print panel and point mouse to the User Templates, try to create a new folder and import there. I hope that helps!
